Boots
4/24/2026
Hello folks!
I'm pleased to announce the release of the digital single 'Boots'. Featuring a freshly recorded full band version of the title track, which some of you may remember from the acoustic demo I put out a few years ago, the B-side (if that's even still a thing... in my world it is!) is a punk-pop track called "Initials".
This release shows a more rockier side of what I do, especially as the last few releases have been more introspective and mellow. "Boots" originally came out of a personal experience dealing with a certain UK pharmaceutical chain many years ago and ties together with the more universal theme of the Orwellian horrors we are seeing unfolding by the day around the world - "imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever". I felt an urgency to release the song prematurely in it's demo form a few years ago and again very suddenly in February this year, just before the Iran war kicked off, I suddenly felt an urgency to get a full band version recorded. If that all seems heavy, well, my aim is for Music to return to it's rightful position as an expression/extension of Truth, not merely a form of entertainment.
The recording came together quickly and "Initials" was completed soon afterwards and seemed the perfect accompanying song. "Initials" is an observation on the way the same initials often appear throughout our lives in a synchronistic way. I once read from someone who'd noted that Bob Marley had a lot of people in his life with the initials CB - his mother Cedella Booker, his drummer Carlton Barrett, his producer Chris Blackwell and his girlfriend Cindy Breakespeare. This got me looking at my own life and I realised there were a few different ones recurring from childhood until now.
The 'Boots' single release is available now from the website shop as an MP3 download and is also available for download from Bandcamp. Look out for it later on streaming services.
